The rules for using Vern
Last updated: 31 March 2026 · Vern, Norway · elias@getvern.com
These terms are written to be understandable, not to protect us from you. By using Vern, you agree to them. If anything is unclear, email us at elias@getvern.com.
What Vern is
Vern is an insurance management tool. It helps you organise your existing insurance policies, identify potential overlaps and coverage gaps, and compare market prices. It is designed to give you a clearer picture of your insurance portfolio in one place.
Vern is not an insurance broker, insurance adviser, or financial services firm. We are not regulated by Finanstilsynet (the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority) or any equivalent body.
Everything Vern shows you — AI analysis, overlap detection, gap recommendations, price comparisons, and chat responses — is informational only. It is generated by an AI model and reflects general patterns, not your specific circumstances. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified insurance professional. Before making any decision about your insurance — cancelling a policy, switching providers, or buying new coverage — please consult a licensed insurance adviser.
Who can use Vern
You must be at least 18 years old to use Vern. By creating an account, you confirm that you are.
Vern is currently intended for users in Norway and Sweden. Using Vern from other jurisdictions is at your own risk and we make no guarantees that the service complies with local laws.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your account with others.
The information you add to Vern — policy details, costs, coverage — should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. We rely on the data you provide to generate analysis; if the data is wrong, the analysis will be too.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings or by emailing elias@getvern.com.
What you can and cannot do
You may use Vern for your own personal insurance management. You may not:
- ·Use Vern to manage policies on behalf of others without their knowledge or consent.
- ·Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from Vern.
- ·Use Vern for any unlawful purpose or in a way that harms others.
- ·Impersonate another person or create accounts using false information.
AI analysis — what it can and cannot do
Vern uses Claude (by Anthropic) to analyse your policies, identify overlaps and gaps, and answer questions in the chat. Here is what you need to know about the AI:
- ·AI analysis is indicative only. It is based on the text and numbers you enter. It cannot read the actual terms and conditions of your policies.
- ·The AI may miss overlaps, flag false positives, or suggest gaps that do not apply to your situation.
- ·Price comparisons are based on illustrative market averages, not live quotes. Actual prices will differ based on your profile and circumstances.
- ·Chat responses are generated by an AI and may contain errors. Treat them as a starting point for your own research, not as definitive answers.
Never cancel, change, or buy insurance based solely on Vern's analysis. Always verify with your insurer or a qualified adviser.
The service
Vern is provided as-is. We aim for high availability but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. If we make significant changes that affect your use of the service, we will notify you by email with reasonable notice.
Vern is currently free for users. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will give you advance notice and you will have the choice whether to continue using the service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, Vern is not liable for:
- ·Any financial loss resulting from decisions made based on Vern's analysis or recommendations.
- ·Inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading AI-generated analysis.
- ·Loss of data due to technical failure (though we take regular backups).
- ·Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Vern is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, if you are on a free plan, is zero).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — these cannot be excluded under Norwegian law.
Intellectual property
The Vern name, logo, and product are owned by Vern. Your data — the policies, details, and information you enter — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Norway. If you are a consumer in another EEA country, you also have the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Vern after that date means you accept the updated terms.
